My brother and I would go to the Saturday mattinee get popcorn or candy a coke (which means anything) and two comic books all for $l.00..the movie was a dime each the comic books were a nickle each some were a dime..the cokes were a dime and the candy was a dime...we usually sat through the movie twice if it was real good...

Growing up I remember watching Clutch Cargo cartoons on TV. It was animated cartoon until there was a spoken line, Then They used still pictures and only the lips moved. There was another one called Space Angel that was done the same way.
you guys will all be too young to remember this (follow the bouncing ball)....there would be songs put up on the movie screen with a bouncing ball touching each word you sing....it was fun

I remember walking to school everyday (unless it was raining). It seemed like such a long walk to & from school.
I now walk about twice that distance nearly everyday and it doesn't seem that far. I think this town is shrinking... [img]wink.gif[/img]
I remember walking to the bus stop, which was about 3/4 of a mile...rain or shine. I also remember the time my grandmother came to Alabama from Florida to stay with us...a true Southern Belle to the core. She decided to drive us to the bus stop in her silk robe, clear plastic shoes with feathers, gaudy earrings, her hair in rollers and a silk scarf and no make up. Anyway, our dog used to chase our car half way to the busstop but would stop because he would get tired after mom would speed up. But the morning my grandmother took us, in her attire, the dog started chasing the car and so she kept panicking thinnking she was gonna hit the dog so the dog chased us all the way to the busstop. Upon reaching the busstop, my grandmother gets out of her car and startes chasing & cussing out the dog at the top of her lungs, in her southern accent, in front of about 14 kids and a few poarents. My sister, brother and I remained frozen in the car from the terror of the scene. She then waltzes up to the car upon gathering her wits back and nonchalantly tells us to get out of the car. My sister refused and demanded to be driven to school rather than face the humliation of the scene in which my grandmother caused. Ahhhhhhhhh such fond memories!
Oh I don't know...something about calling a dog a mother fucker just makes me crack up...not then, but definitely now.

Oh I can tell some whoppers regarding my southern belle grandmother, who, btw we call Goat. It is her nickname; as she used to always tell us the story of the Three Billy Goats Gruff.
OMG I remember this story...I got the privilige of hearing both Robin and Goat tell it...OH I LAUGHED SO HARD. Goat is amazing and there are so many stories....let me gets DEPENDS b4 you start Robin!!!
When my mom and grandmother (Goat) were flying out of Orlando to Phoenix about 17 years ago, they pulled up to the departs parking area, and my grandmother, who always overpacks could not carry her bags. She saw a black fellow and started shouting really loud "Porter?...Poooorrrterrrr?" When he did not respond and kept walking with his back to her she starts after him shouting "porter" for about 150 yards. My mom was just sitting there utterly shocked and embarassed. Finally, after dodging her for as long as he could, and with onlookers staring from all her ruckus, the guy turns toward Goat, and first she said, holding a dollar bill, "WOuld you mind getting my bags?" And he looked at her real stern-like and said, "Ma'am, I'm a pilot, not a porter." Mom grabbed her luggage and made a bee line thru the doors.
Those are some wonderful memories [img]biggrin.gif[/img]
This is the time of year that my mother used to make fried pies, She would use dried fruit, like peaces, plums, apples and wrap them in a home made dough.
She would let us kids crimp the edges of the dough with forks before droping them into a large cast iron dutch oven filled with hot oil.
When they turned brown & started to float, she would pull them out to cool...Guess who usually couldn't wait and end up with a burnt tongue?

I went to my sisters yesterday and I stayed for dinner, She made pork chops and Potatos & Dumpling soup...Mmmm
I haven't had that for years, My Mother used to make a huge pot of it and I could live on the leftovers. Today I decided to try my luck and they turned out fantastic. I remember asking my Mother a long time ago for the recipe and being told it was some of this, a little of that and a couple sprinkles of salt...Thank goodness my sister payed more attention than I did [img]wink.gif[/img]
